Fishing and Turkey Hunting For Our Wounded Heroes

We are so thankful that through Headwater for Heroes we have the opportunity to bless others with the enjoyments of our ranch especially to those who have sacrificed so much for us. Meet some of the wounded heros that came out to enjoy some fishing and turkey hunting.

Matt Deatherage

"I was born and raised is Elverta California. I joined the Army when I was nineteen and went to basic training at Ft Knox in Kentucky. I was stationed at Ft.Lewis in Tacoma Washington. I was deployed to Afghanistan and while out escorting a EOD unit and I stepped on a pressure plate IED, which resulted in the loss of my left leg below the knee."

Johnny Nguyen

"I grew up in San Jose CA where I joined the Army soon after high school. I was stationed in camp Casey Korea for my first duty station. After I was assigned to 1-5 CAV out of Fort Hood TX. It was there I did two deployments to Baghdad, Sadr city Iraq. I was a Humvee driver in 2007 and a 240B gunner in 2009. It was that summer in 09 where my vehicle sustain an EFP strike later resulting in the amputation of my left leg above the knee. I now currently reside in San Antonio TX."

Matt Pundyk

"I was born in Sacramento California and raised in Cincinnati Ohio. I joined the Army infantry in 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan the same year. I stepped on a pressure plate landmine on 3/10/2011 resulting in the amputation of both lower legs. I now live in New Braunfels Texas."
