Namgis Horse Division

Namgis Quarter Horses Facility

The Namgis Quarter Horses Facility sets in the gently rolling country west of San Antonio, Texas, in Hondo. With a nice, large covered arena this is one of the training locations used for our riding horses and is the primary facility used for our breeding program as we have a lab that has been constructed on site. This is also where all of the foals get handled and start their ground work training from when they are newborn to a yearling.

Headquarters Division

The range at the headquarters division is stocked with 150 black angus brood cows. The headquarters division is also where we winter our bulls. We also maintain a small herd of corriente-longhorn cross cattle that we use for arena work for our colts. In favorable years this ranch is where we will run stocker cattle.

Hondo Cattle Division

The Hondo cattle division is stocked with 100-150 brood cows depending on the season. The pastures on the Hondo division are improved grasses and irrigated coastal. We are able to graze these pastures continuously and still harvest a hay crop from them.

Cowden Division

The Cowden range is stocked with 120 Santa Gertrudis brood cows. The Cowden was formally farm ground so we are able to grow a dry land oat crop that we will graze. The Cowden also has one irrigation pivot of coastal grasses.

Wilson Division

The Wilson range is stocked with 90 head of fall calving angus cows and 75 head of commercial cows. On the Wilson we use a rotational grazing approach. Primary grazing for winter is oats and in the summer haygrazer and irrigated coastal. We also have a luscious creek bottom pasture with native grasses that we use for over flow grazing.
