Stan Sigman
The Man Who Started It All
Mr. Sigman was the founder of Namgis Quarter Horses.
Raised here in Hereford, TX, he spent much of his youth caring for and riding horses – they were very close to his heart.
Most of Mr. Sigman’s career was in the tech world, where he saw huge success as the head of many influential companies, notably retiring as CEO of AT&T Mobility.
Although he and his wife, Gerry Lynn moved around a lot for his career, they always put first priority on finding a place where they could bring their horses.
While on the outside it seemed he was living the dream, he comically labeled this foray into technology as a distraction.
Where he longed to be – and decided to return to – were his honest roots on the ranch.
This is where Namgis Quarter Horses was born.
From Humble Beginnings
Stan had one goal; to build an elite team of mares to produce an all-around roping and barrel prospect with good conformation, athleticism, and a good mind.
We started as a simple working ranch with cattle and cowboys and gave our horses a proper start here before they ever began their barrel careers.
We believe it helped them to grasp the fundamentals, so they could go on to thrive when asked to rodeo or patterned on barrels.
Stan’s first major racehorse was Kiss My Hocks, a stallion with an impressive track record in barrel racing, followed by Bucks Hancock Dude – one of our top stallions for producing winning progeny!
These very prestigious horses allowed us to develop the Namgis bloodline, which has become one of the finest performance lines in all of Texas.
Honoring Stan’s Memory
Mr. Sigman sadly passed away at his home in Hondo, TX, on December 21, 2020. Now, we work alongside his wife Gerry Lynn, son Spicer, and daughter Jodi, to keep his dream alive and continue his legacy and impact on the American Quarter Horse.
